Sony’s June 2026 State of Play clocked in at just over an hour, and it was a properly stacked one. It opened with a brutal new look at Marvel’s Wolverine and closed with the announcement nobody saw coming — God of War Laufey. In between was a steady drip of release dates, surprise reveals, and a few left-field swings that are well worth your attention.
If you missed the stream or just want the highlights without sitting through the whole thing, here’s every game shown during the broadcast, in alphabetical order, with what we learned about each one.
1. Marvel’s Wolverine
The show opened strong. Insomniac Games gave us a genuinely violent, action-heavy look at Logan’s solo adventure — and confirmed a September 15, 2026 launch. We got a closer look at his combat techniques and a peek at characters from mutant task force Team X, including telekinetic Jean Grey, who teams up with Logan for some nasty takedowns against the cybernetic Reavers. After years of anticipation, this one’s nearly here.
2. God of War Laufey
The closer, and the headline of the entire show. The next mainline God of War hands the lead to Faye (Laufey) — Kratos’ late wife — who wakes up after her own funeral in the Everywhen, the afterlife of the gods. It’s a PS5 exclusive with no release date yet, but it’s available to wishlist now. We’ve broken this one down in full in a separate article, but the short version: faster combat, soul-ripping powers, and a cosmic cube voiced by Jack Quaid.
3. Until Dawn 2
A surprise sequel to the 2015 horror cult favourite, developed by Firesprite. Until Dawn 2 is a standalone story with an entirely new cast — this time a crew of ghost hunters shooting a network-funded TV debut on an abandoned tropical island. The butterfly-effect decision system returns, as does the enigmatic Dr Hill (Peter Stormare once again). It lands on PS5 in 2027.
4. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis
Lara’s back. Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog are returning her to her roots, and the trailer toured familiar ground including the iconic Peru Lost Valley, plus some returning faces. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis lands on PS5 on February 12, 2027.
5. Control Resonant
Remedy dropped a new story trailer and a date: September 24, 2026. Set in a Manhattan warped by paranatural forces, you play as Dylan, mastering both his evolving abilities and a shapeshifting weapon called the Aberrant. Jesse Faden returns too. If you loved the original Control’s eerie architecture and rule-bending world, this is shaping up nicely.
6. Onimusha: Way of the Sword
Capcom confirmed a September 25, 2026 launch — and dropped a demo the same day. The supernatural samurai action revival lets you try around 30 minutes of the early story, getting to grips with techniques like Parry, Deflect, Issen, Oni Armament, and soul absorption. A great surprise for fans who’ve waited a long time for this series to return.
7. Silent Hill: Townfall
Another horror, another September date. Silent Hill: Townfall arrives September 24, 2026, and the new trailer introduced Zoe, a resident of St. Amelia whom protagonist Simon connects with through his CRTV device — plus a terrifying new creature stalking the Otherworld. Konami’s Silent Hill revival keeps building momentum.
8. Dune: Awakening
The open-world survival game set on Arrakis is making the jump to console. The PS5 version arrives September 22, 2026 as a definitive edition, packing a brand-new single-player mode, a new chapter in the cinematic storyline, and a long list of additions and improvements over the PC release.
9. Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve
Bandai Namco’s aerial combat series returns on October 2, 2026. Expect a thrilling campaign, new tactical maneuvers, encounters against colossal continental transport aircraft and land-based ships, and 30 different aircraft — a mix of real-world fighters and fictional designs — to pilot.
10. No Rest for the Wicked
From Moon Studios (the Ori games) comes this visceral, Souls-like action-RPG hitting PS5 in October 2026. The hand-crafted world is built for solo and co-op play and ships with 100+ hours of content, a reimagined class system, new weapons, bosses, enemies, and areas to explore.
11. Rayman Legends Retold
A 3D reimagining of the beloved multiplayer platformer, out October 1, 2026. It brings fully voiced characters, an expanded soundtrack, improved gameplay, a roster of returning levels plus a mysterious new realm, four new musical stages, and up to four-player couch co-op. A nostalgic pick for families.
12. Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered
The hack-and-slash classic gets a modern revival, bundling both Dynasty Warriors 3 and its Xtreme Legends expansion. It roars onto PS5 on October 1, 2026.
13. Bancho The Chef
One of the show’s most charming reveals. From Mintrocket, the team behind Dave the Diver, comes a standalone prequel that mixes cooking sim with a globe-trotting RPG. Become a sushi master, cook to customer satisfaction, learn techniques from culinary masters around the world — and, this being a Dave the Diver relative, also fish and pet cats. It leans on PS5 DualSense features to make the cooking feel tactile.
14. Stuntman: Hollywood
A revival of the cult driving series. You play a stunt performer taking on iconic moments inspired by film and TV racing greats. Each “film” splits into episodes, and every episode is a unique level with its own vehicle and gameplay twists, so the pace and objectives constantly shift. Precise, stylish stunt driving is the name of the game. No firm date yet — “coming soon” to PS5.
15. Phantom Blade Zero
The fast, stylish action-RPG made a brief but memorable appearance to announce it’ll headline its own dedicated State of Play later this summer, with a full deep dive into features, mechanics, and story. It’s still on track to launch on PS5 later in 2026.
16. Kemuri
Ikumi Nakamura’s studio Unseen revealed this stylish supernatural adventure, coming to PS5 in 2027. Set in the chaotic Kemuri City where life and death coexist, you’ll explore a sprawling vertical world across rooftops, alleys, and hidden ruins — solo or in online co-op for up to three players — forming pacts with powerful yokai to unlock new abilities and outfits.
17. ILL
For the horror crowd, ILL served up a tantalising and genuinely unsettling taste of its first-person action-horror. Expect a grim story, unpredictable monsters, a visceral dismemberment system, and realistic physics, all aimed at sustaining relentless dread. Strap in.
18. The Lost Wild
From Great Ape Games — including talent who worked on Alien: Isolation — comes a modern survival-horror set on a dinosaur-infested island, launching 2027. The twist is its philosophy: flight over fight. Every dinosaur is designed as an animal with real instincts and behaviours rather than a monster, and you’re no longer top of the food chain.
19. Marathon
Bungie’s sci-fi extraction shooter got a content update: Season 2 went live the same day, and an Open Play Week ran June 2 to June 9 with no PlayStation Plus required, opening Tau Ceti IV to newcomers wanting to try the tense PvP and PvE extraction gameplay.
Plus: PlayStation Plus additions
Sony also confirmed several PlayStation Plus titles. Runescape: Dragonwilds joins the Game Catalog as a day-one PS5 release in future, while Premium members get a trio of classics: Gitaroo Man later this month, Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy in July, and Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams in August.
Final thoughts
The June 2026 State of Play did exactly what these showcases are meant to do: anchor the back half of the year with confirmed dates (Marvel’s Wolverine, Control Resonant, Onimusha, Silent Hill) while still landing a genuine jaw-dropper to close on. God of War Laufey is the one everyone’s talking about, but the September lineup alone is going to make for a very expensive few months.
Which reveal got you most excited? For us, it’s a tough call between Faye’s God of War debut and finally having a Marvel’s Wolverine release date locked in.
